Blog Post – Raw on 5 – Speciality Dining on the Celebrity Edge Class

Do you like Seafood, Sushi and / or Japanese cuisine?

If you answered yes, then Raw on 5 on one of the celebrity edge class ships, is the dining venue for you!

Raw on 5 is a speciality dining restaurant, believe it out not, on Deck 5. There is no cover charge to eat here however you order from an Γ  la carte menu. All the dishes are individually priced.

The menu below was correct in May 2024.

Raw on 5 is open at lunchtime on Sea days and for dinner service, every day. It has seemed quiet on my current cruise on Celebrity apex however I think this is just because it is a short sort of taster cruise for British cruisers to see celebrity cruises is like and people are first exploring the included dining options.

On Celebrity cruises sailing from the US, it has seemed much more popular, so I would advise you book on the app pre cruise for dinner reservations. I don’t think reservations are required in advance for lunch.

Raw on 5 is a beautiful venue. It is located in the grand Plaza.

On entering the restaurant you can admire the fresh shellfish and seafood on offer and the very talented chefs, preparing it all for you.

As you are seated at your table you’ll notice the bright large windows to allow you to look out to see whilst enjoying your food. If you’re lucky you may get a window seat! There are tables of all size to accommodate anyone from solo cruisers, to large families or groups of friends.

You will always get the dining table size you require in speciality dining restaurants. It’s only in the main dining venues where you can share tables. If you’re cruising solo and aren’t comfortable to sit alone, then visit the Solo cruise get togethers, advertised in the Cruise daily schedule, here you can meet fellow solo cruisers some of which may want to explore some speciality dining venues together.

Do have the confidence to visit solo! The waiting staff will look after you very well and no one is looking at you, they are far too interested in their food! I tend to use time at dinner to look at what’s going on around the ship on my Celebrity app.

There is a wide variety of seafood sushi and Japanese food on offer. If fish is not your thing there are dishes in the β€˜Land meats sea’ section of the menu. With options like Japanese style chicken, pork and steak.

As well as a extensive food menu, there’s also a wide selection of drinks. A Sommelier can assist you to find the right wine or cocktail to complement your chosen meal.

Most notably are the pure snow sake cocktails you must try one of these. They are slightly more expensive than the classics drink package which on UK cruises covers drinks up to a $12 value, however with Celebrity you will only pay the difference in price and they are definitely worth treating yourself too.

When I eat raw on five on celebrity apex in May 2024 I eat two courses and had two cocktails and ended up paying around $40 for the portions size the scrumptious food and delicious cocktails in such a beautiful venue. I feel that’s well spent.
