Outdoor swimming in Box Hill!

For years I’ve admired the Mecure, Burford Bridge outdoor pool, but have always been too slow to book for sunny days!

So, with beautiful sunshine forecast and a weekend lacking 21 hour shifts of work, I strongly suggested to my husband we book a night away… The suggestion worked and on Saturday we had a lazy morning at home then headed towards Box Hill.

On arrival the car park was full, which is always a good sign! Our Mini Countryman got its closest experience of off roading….parking in a bush!

Check in was quick and efficient with a very friendly lady. We were surprised (and very grateful) with a double upgrade to a privileged room. This room had extra features of a Nespresso machine, a free mini bar, use of robes and slippers and a nice terrace door to an outside area.

We soon headed to the pool and spent the afternoon swimming and sun bathing. The pool was super busy, there were incredibly hard working lifeguards ensuring everyone was safe and generally making sure everyone behaved. The pool was split with half for kids to have fun in, then the other half for people to properly swim, a great idea! The pool was lovely and warm and the surrounding area very clean.

Treated ourselves to some delicious Grays Gelato local Surrey ice cream, nom nom!

We then headed back to the room to relax before dinner.

Dinner was delicious! We were staying on a a half board basis so were able to chose our dinner from a set menu. Plenty of time was left to let each course digest , which was perfect as my husband and I are definitely ones who wolf down our food! There was a wedding party in the room next door, but no sound travelled, we only knew of their existence when guests were seen walking around outside.

After dinner we decided to head to the bar for a little night cap and tried some of the local Silent pool gin. Delicious!

Enjoyed a comfortable nights sleep then awoke nice and early on Sunday morning to head for a nice outdoor early (for a Sunday) Swim! My gosh the pool was busy! Packed with people. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed our early morning swim and headed for a lovely cooked breakfast after.
