Exploring the Mediterranean on Wind Star.

Travelling through the Mediterranean by sea is always special. Gliding across calm blue waters with warm breezes and stunning coastlines is a dream, but sailing on Windstar Cruises motor sailing yacht Wind Star makes the experience feel even more unique. With around one hundred and fifty guests on board, this is small ship cruising focused on relaxed luxury and meaningful time in port.
Life on Board, Relaxed and Welcoming

Wind Star offers a private yacht style atmosphere with spacious cabins, friendly crew and plenty of open deck space. The ship feels calm and intimate, the ideal environment to unwind between days of exploration.
I never missed having a balcony, with outdoor seating areas just steps away I spent so much time outside enjoying fresh air and sea views. Raphaelβs terrace was a favourite peaceful corner, often completely quiet with the ocean stretching out behind.

Delicious Dining Throughout the Day

Food is a real highlight on Wind Star. Breakfast and lunch at Veranda offer fresh choices with gorgeous sea views. In the evening Veranda becomes Candles, a reservation only outdoor restaurant that is included in the cruise fare. Dining by candlelight under a Mediterranean sky is such a memorable way to end the day.
There is also Amphora, the main restaurant serving beautifully prepared dinners with excellent service and a warm atmosphere.
Every meal felt enjoyable with no rush and no fuss, just good food and great views.

A Beautiful Selection of Ports
The itinerary combined popular Mediterranean destinations with smaller ports that feel like hidden gems.
Palma de Mallorca, Spain

A wonderful day beginning in Palma then travelling to SΓ³ller. After exploring the town we returned on the charming wooden train, a scenic and memorable way to see more of the island.
Mahon, Menorca

Perfect for a gentle wander with attractive historic streets and wonderful views over the large natural harbour.
Calvi, Corsica

A dramatic coastline with an impressive citadel perched up high. The walk to the top rewards you with stunning views and peaceful moments.
Bastia, Corsica

Colourful and full of life, especially around the old port. A great place to soak up the local Corsican atmosphere.
Portoferraio, Elba

Cobbled streets and pastel coloured buildings give Portoferraio real charm. Walking up to the forts offers excellent viewpoints. A visit to a vineyard and wine tasting added even more flavour to the day.
Each port offered something different, from history and scenery to local culture and coastline.
Time to Unwind at Sea
Sea days bring calm moments and time to relax. The gym is small but perfectly formed and the spa offers a lovely selection of treatments. I enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing full body massage and even treated myself to a fresh haircut with sea views, a truly peaceful way to spend time at sea.

Outdoor Living and Watersports Marina
One of the unique pleasures on Wind Star is the watersports marina located at the stern. When conditions allow the crew open the platform so guests can enjoy swimming in the sea, jumping in for a refreshing dip or trying complimentary water based activities. Being able to step straight into the Mediterranean from the yacht is a brilliant experience and adds to the feeling of freedom on this cruise.

Outdoor life onboard is at the heart of the Wind Star journey and the open air decks and access to the sea help connect you with the water in a way larger ships simply cannot offer.

Bowsprit Photography
One of my favourite places on Wind Star is right out on the bowsprit. It is an incredible vantage point where you can stand above the water and look straight ahead as the yacht sails towards the horizon. The sound of the sea, the breeze on your face and the perfect view of the sails above create a feeling of pure freedom. It is also a brilliant photography spot. You can capture the elegant lines of the yacht and the vast ocean stretching in front of you. Do not miss the chance to take your own bowsprit photographs on Windstar cruises, keep an eye out for the special photography event on the Bow Spirit, it will be announced in the daily newspaper.

Perfect for Solo Travellers
Solo cruising on Windstar is absolutely perfect. With such a warm and welcoming atmosphere you never feel alone unless you want to take a quiet moment for yourself. The intimate size of the yacht means you quickly recognise fellow guests and friendly crew. Dining is relaxed with tables for one or shared options if you would like company. Excursions are easy to join and the open decks make it simple to enjoy the views while chatting with new friends. Windstar really does make solo travellers feel right at home at sea.
Why Wind Star is Perfect for Mediterranean Adventures
With beautiful ports, outdoor dining, attentive crew and a constant connection to the sea, Wind Star is a brilliant way to explore the Mediterranean. Nothing feels rushed. Days flow gently between discovery ashore and calm comfort on board.
If you love exploring new destinations and spending plenty of time outdoors, this intimate way of sailing is a wonderful choice. My Mediterranean adventure on Wind Star has left me dreaming of the next one.
