5 ideas for a day on Barbados

What is there not to like? Barbados has it all, fabulous weather, beautiful scenery and fantastically friendly people.

If you head off on a Caribbean Cruise you may either stop or turn round in Bridgetown, Barbados. Make sure you allow for time to explore!

Here are 5 ideas for spending a day ashore in Barbados, in no particular order.

1. Spend the day at the Beach!

It may be predictable, Barbados is full of fantastic places to swim, surf and relax!

There are no private beaches in Barbados, all beaches are public.

Accra Beach is quite the picture perfect beach, its popular and offers a combination of exciting waves, perfect for body boarding and calmer seas, perfect for some calm swimming! Sunloungers are available from locals bars for a reasonable price.

Crane beach is another favourite, in fact I’d argue it is *the* perfect beach! The Pink sands, the palm trees, the perfect waves for body boarding, it just looks like Paradise.

2. Ride the Party Bus!

Ride a historic piece of Barbados aboard a Banks Vintage Bajan Bus.

You’ll need to remember your sense of fun ( don’t bother if you’re boring) the booming stereo system plays as you enjoy a rum punch and tour the island! A day you won’t forget.

3. Take a boat trip.

Be it a private charted yacht or a group boat trip aboard a Catamaran with 50 odd others you will undoubtedly have a fabulous day aboard a boat in Barbados.

Trips usually involve snorkelling with turtles in Carlisle Bay, so ensure you’ve an underwater camera with you. Further snorkelling around shipwrecks to admire the stunning marine life, then a swim stop or two, lunch and beverages!

4. Visit Bathsheba

Bathsheba is the main fishing village in St Joseph, it’s on the East Coast of Barbados on the spectacular Atlantic coast, so no paddling in sheltered seas here.

It takes your breath away. It’s beautiful. A dramatic coastline with unusual rock formations and fantastic strong waves crashing against the shore. Don’t forget your camera!

Finally number 5. Visit the Boatyard or Harbour Lights.

The Boatyard is a busy beach club/bar located a short stroll from port. There are cruise passenger packages you can buy on entry including a free drink, sun lounger, a cab ride back to your ship and use of the Boatyard facilities.

Prices are reasonable and your fellow beach goers will be crew and cheerful fellow cruisers. Alternatively Harbour Lights is another lovely beach bar to spend the day!

Both are fab little places to spend your day in Barbados, to have fun, make memories and celebrate life! No moaners here!
